Great Blend of Specs for Gaming and School Work
I think a student or road warrior gamer would be ecstatic to have this laptop for work and school. it is really a powerhouse for gaming and work, but I would probably use a separate mouse and keyboard to it. I always use a mouse regardless and all the USB-A ports really help there. Great laptop overall for the price and budget!
Pros: - Great mid to high-end specs for a laptop that balances gaming and schoolwork. - Core 7 240H is actually Raptor Lake 6P/4E for a total of 12+4 threads. This means you get great gaming and solid work/multi-thread performance. - 32GB of RAM is a lot in the current climate for RAM. This is also dual channel RAM. - 5070Ti has 12GB of VRAM and is well matched with this 2560x1600 165Hz display. This is actually my favorite laptop size and resolution at 16" as everything looks great, nice and crisp at a good size without having to use any Windows scaling, and the resolution is still moderate enough for laptop x70/80 GPUs to drive especially with DLSS4 support. - Display is 165Hz, bright and snappy and looks great overall, even if it is not OLED. - WiFi6E and lots of connectivity options includin
Cons: As expected, there are some trade-offs on this "gaming" design. - The LPDDR5X is unfortunately not upgradeable and soldered onto the mainboard. - The 5070Ti is limited in performance due to the overall TGP of 115W despite a 240W power adapter. This is the same across the lineup of this A16 laptops and performance does suffer slightly compared to higher TGP GPUs that will do 140W. The 5070Ti mobile is also slower than a desktop 5070 and performs closer to a 4070 mobile I used in my older Zephyrus G16 laptop than it is to a 5070 or even 5070Ti desktop part. - The keypad and trackpad are a little bit spongy and there is some inconsistency/sluggishness with actuation point on the keyboard. Meaning you feel like you pushed the key down all the way but it doesn't register or doesn't register unt

Doesn't have to be perfect to be great
Even though this laptop isnt perfect, it gets a lot of things right. I wouldnt call it light or thin, but for a 16-inch plastic gaming laptop, it does pretty well. The cooling system is solid and keeps performance steady, though the fans do get loud under full load. Its not a big issue if youre wearing headphonesyou can still enjoy a gaming sessionbut it is a bit loud if youre relying on the speakers alone. Speaking of which, the speakers are just okay, which is pretty typical for PC laptops in general. All of that said, where this laptop really gets it right is where it counts: performance. In the screenshot above, you can see Marvel Rivals running at nearly an 80 FPS average with everything maxed out and DLSS set to Quality. Turning the settings down pushes performance even higher and easily hits the displays refresh rate. Cyberpunk defaulted to Ray Tracing Ultra with DLSS enabled and ran beautifullyno gimmicky frame generation needed. I also tested Baldurs Gate 3, which is a very CPU-demanding title, and it performed excellently as well. Bottom line: this laptop will play anything you throw at it. Add in the included 32 GB of RAM (which feels like a small fortune these days), the 1 TB SSD, and the high-refresh-rate display, and its a great system to game on. Its not perfectbut it doesnt have to be to be great.
Pros: - Excellent gaming performance - Decent battery life for a gaming laptop - Fast refresh screen - Nice touchpad - Compact charger - No pre-installed bloatware!
Cons: - Single-zone RGB keyboard - Screen has some noticeable backlight in dark situations - Some minor keyboard flex, but really not that bad compared to others - Power cord is on the middle side rather than towards the back - Power cord would be better if it was 90 degrees--it is easy to bump since it sticks out - Power cord is short--would like to see it be a few feet longer

Excellent for gaming and day to day use!
Over-all, solid machine that will serve you well for years to come. Windows 11 seems to perform very nicely, so this machine would more than suffice for day to day usage. I am a big fan of Gigabyte products, I believe that they are well made and have good support. My son and I are looking forward to playing more modern games on this laptop and I enjoy rendering videos (for Youtube) on it, since the performance from the video card is quite good. Video review link: https://youtu.be/JNRPsElQWzk
Pros: - Feature packed for the price. - Not flashy (some may or may not like this). - Upgradable storage. - High performance cooling solution. - Good video card for just about all games out currently. - Good "day to day" performance. - Durable construction with a sleek design. - Very nice feeling keyboard with a large touch pad. - Made by an excellent manufacture. - Internal structure of the laptop is well thought out and designed. - MUX switch is good for performance (switching from on-board to nVidia). - Capable for over-clocking. - Not too heavy considering all the power packed into it. - Battery life is quite good.
Cons: - Speakers could be better. - Soldered on memory (no-upgradeable). - Loud under heavy loads (gaming). - Not a huge fan of Windows 11 Home (would rather have Pro). - Unconventional port placement, power plug doesn't seem durable. Combined audio jack.

2025 A16 Pro first impression
Early reaction, so far so good. The specs seem accurate, and it works as advertised. The screen has decent color and contrast, no ghosting/smearing that I have seen, and the keyboard has a pleasant bounce that makes typing enjoyable, though I wish there was a version with a NUMPAD. The RTX 5070 Ti is the real MVP of the 50 series imo. Good performance in modern games, without the power draw or excessive heat of the higher end models. Sometimes gaming with maximum settings, other times with things tuned down somewhat. Even Star Citizen ran decently with some configuring, though the fans were howling. Thankfully Gigabyte didn't ship the A16 with a ton of bloatware, just Windows and their own software GiMate, which is actually useful, even if the UI is a bit confusing till you figure out where everything is. Features a conventional plastic design save for the display and hinge. The hinge seems to be made of metal, and the lid of the display has that "Light Diffusion" finish to make the whole thing appear like it is made of metal. It looks clean, though your mileage may vary. Picks up fingerprints very easily, so microfiber cloth is probably a must. -Update-: I installed a drive in the second NVMe slot. Installing the second drive entails removing the lower half of the plastic shell to expose the NVMe slot on the motherboard. It seems like Gigabyte engineered the shell itself to come into contact with the end of an NVMe drive when it is re-assembled, wedging it in place. Protip: I strongly recommend picking up a laptop stand for this one. The speakers in the A16 Pro face downward and the sound can be easily muffled when the laptop rests on a soft surface. Also, even though Gigabyte's "Windforce" fan setup is sufficient to control heat as it is, In my experience even a small amount of elevation can make a real difference in the temps, and help prevent the speakers from being muffled at the same time. I think a stand is definitely worthwhile IMO. -Update- Added photos sho
Pros: No bloatware to uninstall. GiMate software is useful.
Cons: No NUMPAD option. The finish picks up fingerprints easily.

Solid hardware specifications for the price.
This laptop has decent specs for the price, boasting a 10 core Intel CPU with 16 threads, an RTX 5070Ti, 32 GB DDR5 ram running at 5600mhz and a fast Gen 4 M2 drive. It provides a solid and enjoyable gaming experience at 1080p and to a lesser degree at native 2560x1600 ( without DLSS or Frame Generation). BF6 and Cyberpunk played well with fps hitting 110 plus in BF6 at 2560x1600 and mid 60s in Cyberpunk. Having said this, I had a few issues with the laptop that may be deal breakers for some. First of all, even though this laptop boasts an RTX 5070Ti, it is the laptop version, which has totally different specs to the desktop version, including a much lower TDP (which is not surprising as this is a gaming laptop after all). This GPU uses a smaller die with 5888 cores instead of 8960, 12gb of ram instead of 16gb, a lower boost clock, and a max tdp of 115W instead of the 300W that the desktop GPU has access to. This results in approximately 60% performance of a desktop RTX 5070Ti based on my testing. The MUX switch did a poor job of bypassing the igpu when gaming on battery regardless of the settings I changed in control panel, bios or GiMate software. The 10 core CPU is based on older Raptor lake architecture, the ram is soldered and unable to be upgraded and the M2 drive is just 1TB that will fill up quickly with a few games! I also noted some throttling issues when running Cinebench. First time setup was painful, leaving me on splash screens for almost an hour and then an additional 2 hours to update windows and bios and drivers! Sounds grim, however once I installed the latest Nvida drivers and set them in gaming mode and not studio mode, installed some test programs, Unigine Supposition, BF6, Cyberpunk and VLC I had a lot of fun with this laptop (as long as it was plugged into mains). Watching movies and listening to music was great, the screen was bright and spacious, the speakers were serviceable and did not distort at higher volume. Be aware that the screen is
Pros: Intel Core 7 240H (10core, 16 thread) CPU NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 32GB DDR 5 5600 ram Nice tactile keyboard (not mechanical keys) Bright and vibrant screen 2564x1600, 165hz refresh 180 degree hinge Slim chassis with little flex Runs cool unless gaming Single zone RGB keyboard lighting Dolby Atmos Excels at 1080p gaming WiFi 6E support MUX switch for bypassing the igpu Large responsive track-pad
Cons: Gaming performance reduced significantly when running on battery Poor battery life when gaming Single 1TB Gen 4 M2 drive Cant upgrade ram Laptop 5070 Ti is totally different to desktop GPU Significant bloat and very slow initial setup. CPU throttles during Cinebench and is based on old Raptor Lake architecture MUX switch not always enabled correctly when gaming on battery Bit on the noisy side when gaming Fingerprint magnet

Middling towards greatness
Its a pricey laptop, that at least in my variant lacks an upgrade path for repair, expansion, or improvement. There were issues with the initial setup that may not be user friendly if the end user lacks some technical know-how. Once setup, it plays great, and GiMATE is a useful application. The shell collects fingerprints, the fans do generate noise under load, temperatures stay acceptable under stress loads, and the battery is a Li-Ion (not Polymer as advertised) that you can get some solid use out of between charges depending on how you optimize power consumption (this can vary wildly user to user). Gaming on battery is not ideal and you will want to potentially enable the dGPU if you are (which will consume battery faster). By default, it will swap between the Core 7 iGPU when not plugged in to the charger, or not running a dGPU intensive task. 1TB is not enough storage for someone to spend as much as they will at MSRP. I would have expected a 2TB minimum or at least a second truly accessible and standardized m.2. Its a tough one. Its been a good laptop so far; its just expensive for what you get (and dont get), and maybe I feel like the modern hardware offerings are a little underwhelming for what companies want to charge. I dont feel that it is a Gigabyte specific problem, just an industry issue. Make of that what you will. GiMATE is a useful application for easy updating and performance control. I mentioned earlier about BIOS updates it, like many modern solutions, streamlines some of the more (once) taxing processes. Being able to automate BIOS updates is great and helps people with being more involved in keeping their BIOS updated (its important for many reasons like security, and general performance). Thermals were reasonable under stress test loads, no noticeable hot spots on the keyboard. At worst it got mildly warm. The cooling solution (while not as quiet as claimed) did an excellent job at keeping temperatures low. The 50XX series desktop and notebook
Pros: NOTE: Consolidated Images due to image upload limitations, hope they help! Its one of the simplest packaging jobs I have seen in a minute and as a quick note I appreciate that a lot. Immediately out of the box it felt durable, possessing sturdy construction and quality feel. The A16 features a 180° hinge I am personally indifferent to this feature, but it may be a factor for some of you. The shell features a clean aesthetic and a simple, centered, Gigabyte logo. It will pick up fingerprints, and it smudges very easily. On the inside to the right of the trackpad is a subtle labeling for the base model/product line. I appreciate the clean look that offers a business in the front appearance. For a professional that travels, it should fit the work and the play model well. The trackpad is large
Cons: I am a 10-key person (number pad). Unfortunately for me there is not a 10-key on this premium priced laptop and for me this is a big factor in what I might look for or spend money on. The camera has more advanced biometric features for sensors; however, it lacks the ability to conceal these components manually with a slide or a switch. Privacy can be a concern for some people, so this may be worth noting if you need a third-party method to conceal the camera. The webcam works; It doesnt wow it just simply works. Lighting will matter but like most laptops across the spectrum of laptops it's just not impressive. *See image above. I noticed a misrepresented technical specification. Under specifications I see a Li-Po battery listed, but in the laptop I have in front of me; it is a Li-I battery
